Most families think that moving across town and into a new neighborhood isn’t a big deal but, without proper planning and special consideration it could turn into a nightmare.
All of us at residential and local moving want you to know that we take the same care and planning for a move across town as we do across state lines.
When you hire us we provide all services necessary to relocate. We will wrap, crate, pack and transport all of your belongings in a safe air cushioned vehicle.
Letting us do the moving leaves you time to address other concerns. Moving the kids and pets may prove to be something of a challenge so, with some help of caring Mom’s and Dad’s everywhere we have a list of considerations. Each family has their own way of doing things and we have no intention of encroaching on them. We just want to mention a few things about kids and pet:
Let the kids know about the move as soon as you start planning for it. The fewer surprises there are the less stress there will be
Take time to answer all their questions about new schools, new neighbors and the new surroundings.
Let them know why your are moving; Dad got a new job and we need to move closer to his work or maybe Grandpa got sick and we need to be close to take care of him.
If it is feasible let them choose their room. To make them feel better, remind them that mom and dad, even in the new house, still have to share a room.
Take them to their new school and let them look around, let them ask the teacher/principle the questions
As for your pets walk them around the neighborhood several times before you let them in the yard by themselves. Animals have a good sense of direction if they are familiar with their surroundings.
Assure them they can communicate with their old friends and neighbors frequently.
Lastly, involve them in the move. Have them pack up their own toys and mark the boxes in their own handwriting. When it comes off the truck they will recognize it and take appropriate action
